Blooms The Chemist

Onboarding & Management Portals, UX/UI

Designed a web-based store onboarding portal for Blooms The Chemist, streamlining the process of bringing new pharmacy locations into the network. The portal covers eight onboarding stages and integrates embedded Power BI dashboards, giving franchise managers real-time visibility into progress and compliance.

The work involved designing a hybrid web app experience that balanced operational complexity with a clear, guided interface for store owners — many of whom aren’t technical users. A key part of the project was advocating for an iterative, screen-first design approach rather than building components in isolation, ensuring the UI emerged from real user flows rather than abstract task lists.

Designed a mobile-first performance analytics portal for Blooms The Chemist, enabling 210+ store owners, consulting partners, and retail managers to access consolidated operational metrics without Area Manager intervention. The portal features eight core KPIs (Sales, Gross Profit, Scripts, Dispensary, Stock, and others) plus a separate permission-based Wages dashboard, all embedded within a Power BI platform that replaced fragmented, manually-sourced reporting.

The work involved translating dense technical requirements into a clear 3-level information architecture: dashboard selection → filtered KPI views with real-time comparisons → detailed drill-down reports. A significant design challenge emerged mid-project when requirements shifted substantially—the Wages dashboard needed dual views (Daily operational monitoring vs. Fortnightly post-payrun analysis), each with distinct metrics, conditional visual alerts for missing data, and compliance disclaimers. Rather than treating this as pure visual design, I focused on extracting requirements from technical documentation, clarifying ambiguities with stakeholders, and pushing back on scope creep to maintain a coherent user experience. The iterative approach ensured the final design reflected actual user needs rather than theoretical feature lists.
